On the way to school

Today, on the way to school, I encountered an accident that had occurred moments before I drove up and was stopped by the traffic it created. Everyone else was quickly able to get into the right lane and simply drive around the accident, which had blocked traffic in the left lane. while doing so, as is so typical of California drivers, they honked their horns, yelled obscenities, and gawked at the predicament of those who had just wrecked their cars.

While traffic was whizzing by, the drivers not caring what had happened to the people in the accident, I stopped and got out of my car (causing even more people to honk and cuss) and noticed two people struggling to get out of the driver's side of one of the cars. This lady and a guy sort of fell out onto the street. The lady was clearly having difficulties and I initially thought she was having breathing problems. When I rushed closer I noticed that she was going into some sort of convulsion. I thought she was having an epileptic seizure. I had a pen in my back pocket and I shoved it in her mouth to prevent her from choking on her tongue. The guy helped me hold her down and calm her. (He, himself, seemed to just have some pain in his shoulder.)

I then quickly called 911 and within two minutes the firetruck and ambulance were there (There is a fire station not three blocks from where the accident occurred.) I then hopped into my car, missed my class, but was still made it in time to turn in a paper that was due today.

What is salient about this whole event is that no one, not anyone driving by bothered to stop at all.

Soon afterward I was horrified to learn that someone was sleeping on top of Puppy-dog during the night, only he and God knows for how long!
