Still Recovering

Well, I've been very, very sick; I'm still not 100% but I am definately better than I was when I was in the hospital (And since I don't have health insurance, if the illness didn't kill me, the bill they just sent probably will). My problem now is that my body has yet to fully recover all that has happened to it in the past two weeks. So, I have horrible dry, hacking cough (which is constant) that prevents me from attending classes, but also prevents me from sleeping well at night. Additionally, there were at least five days that I didn't eat a thing and now I'm trying to get my body used to taking in food again. But I'm am constantly experiencing nausea, and it frequently is very difficult to eat without gagging; moreover, every night (usually between 1am-4am) I have to rush into the bathroom to puke my brains out. The other fun thing about my current sickness is that I have what I like to call EAS--Exploding Ass Syndrome. At first it was unpredictable and out of my control, but now it is starting to mellow out a bit.

Either way it all amounts to me still feeling like crap for almost 4 weeks now. Due to this I've gotten no school work done, missed work all this time, and I may have to drop out this semester from school. I was going to be done with my MA by Xmas, but it looks like that won't happen now. I'm in serious financial trouble now due to all this, and if I have to drop out of school this semester, they won't give me any financial aid for another year--that will really screw me over. That means I'll have to drop out of school for another year and move in with my Mom in El Dorado Hills because I won't have the money to live in this area without financial aid.

Speaking of this area--the Pacifica/San Francisco area: Every since I've been attending school in this area, and especially since I've moved to Pacifica, I've gotten really sick at least twice every semester. This used to never happen to me; I used to never get this sick. I think the three years I spent in L.A. I might have gotten a cold at most twice, but here, where I'm at now, I'm getting knock down, I'm-wasted-for-three-weeks, illnesses. I don't understand it. I'm starting to think that the moist climate, coupled with my inability to sleep and my school stress, are all factors in causing me to get sick so often. But I'm really thinking it is the climate that is the primary thing. I just do much better in dryer climates.

Anyway, I'm going now. I have to go back to the doctor.

PS BIG BOY, I would have called you but for some reason you number didn't get saved in my phone. So, give me call so I can save it again.

I'll call you tomorrow if I can find your number and if I remember to call.

I'm thinking it's less the climate and more the stress that's making you sick. I still recall getting sick during midterms and finals.

Oh. Rima says to buy that asidophilis (sp?) stuff she mentioned. She's a health freak, but sometimes she knows what she's talking about -- sometimes. She's convinced now, by the way, of your flakeyness. She still wants to meet you. Go figure.

Well, as I describe in my latest blog entry, we're now living in the OC, except we're staying with my aunt and uncle, so we have no lodgings for anyone but ourselves and the occasional drunk teenage girl we hijack back to our room.

Are you still studying linguistics? Despite the stress and the financial worries, how is graduate school?

Get well,

Brain in a Hat
